Releases 1.211.0 – 1.232.0
Newest first. Three numbers, and which of them moves says what happened to you rather than how much work it was.
The first moves when something that worked stops working: a query that used to answer and now does not, a saved list that will not load, a link you shared that no longer opens what it opened. It has never moved, and that is the whole of what it is for.
The second moves when the page answers something it could not answer before, or answers it better than it did. New grammar is the usual reason. A correction is the other, and a correction is not a break even though the answer changes underneath somebody: "days be christmas" used to say 154 days and now says nothing, because it was reading Belgium out of the word "be", and taking that away left the page more right rather than less useful. An answer that gains a drawing of what it just said counts here too.
The third moves when nothing you type comes back any different.
Numbers get skipped when it takes more than one commit to introduce a release, so only the release from the last commit goes out.

- The three readers that point the age arithmetic somewhere other than today let "if" be followed by nothing except "born", so the two words anybody actually says were the two that made the question unanswerable. The plain age reader beside them had taken them since it was written: "how old am I if I was born 5 jun 1990" has always worked, so the file disagreed with itself about the commonest words in the sentence and gave the reader no way to tell which ones were wrong. The birthday one was worse than silent. It fell through to the date grammar, which read "40th" as a day of this month and said so, an error about a number nobody typed. All three share one clause now: a connector, whose birth it is, and the birth named as the verb or as the noun the form asked for. The subject may be left out but its verb may not, so "if my son was born" is a birth date and "if my son" is still nothing, which is what keeps this from answering questions it has not read.

- The colon named a bare number and nothing else, so a date after one was read as a label: it answered how long ago, kept no name, and looked like it had worked. That is the worst of the three outcomes, because there is nothing to notice until the name is used. A date written in digits is a value now, and so is an amount with a unit or a currency on it. A named date is still a question: "Deadline: christmas" wants the days, not a variable.

- Three different failures were wearing one message. A pinch is a real amount nobody has agreed on, so it gets the figure a kitchen uses and is told the figure is nominal. A mole is a count and a decibel is a ratio, so neither becomes a weight without a fact this page does not hold, and naming the missing fact beats pretending the word was a typo.

- An impossible day of a real month is a typo for the last one, or somebody checking whether that month has that day. Either way the useful reply is the date they were reaching for, so it goes under the refusal with its weekday. February gets one line more: "29 feb 2027" is usually somebody asking whether 2027 is a leap year, and saying which year the next one is answers the question actually being asked.

The squares have been joined up since they went in; the fluid ounce and the troy ounce now are too. With them, five units that were missing: the carat, exact at a fifth of a gram since 1907, the troy ounce a bar of gold is weighed in, and the surveyor's chain with its furlong, which are why an English field is the shape it is.

- Two more pairs that are questions rather than mistakes. An area against a length is geometry, and a hundred square metres is ten metres a side. A rate against the thing it is a rate of is one fact short, and the missing fact is always how long, so an hour and a day go underneath. Which of the pair arrived first decides whether the hour multiplies or divides, and getting that backwards turns fifty kilowatt-hours into six hundred million kilowatts.

- A refusal that is technically correct and stops dead is half an answer. Mass against volume is the pair anybody actually types, and the page could already do it two ways: as fluid ounces, which is the same word for a different unit, and as a weight of water. Both now sit under the refusal with the number already worked out. Refusals can carry a line underneath them at all now, which is the change the rest of these need.

- Eight questions with no date in them were being answered by the date parser, which read the stray number as a month and complained about a calendar nobody had mentioned. A colon is how a name gets written

- A name could be set with an equals and not with a colon, though a colon is how most people write one down. The colon is also how a label gets written in front of a question, and a label comes off the line before any reader sees it, so "andrei: 29" arrived as "29" and was read as a year. What tells the two apart is what follows: a bare number after a colon is a name for that number, and anything that has to be worked out is still a label on the answer. "Rent: 1200" used to answer 301,895 days ago.

Every other calculator asks for a number of years because it has no choice. Which day-count is used is said out loud, because it is real money: a lender on actual/360 charges five days a year the calendar does not have, and 30/360 pays no attention to the calendar whatever.

The detail lines were written to two decimals whatever the currency, so a yen headline sat over a footnote with pennies in it. And nine symbols the page had never seen -- the rupee, won, rouble, shekel, dong, naira, baht, hryvnia and peso -- were reaching the date engine and being told about months.

Beside them, what a sum is worth once prices have moved under it, since a figure thirty years out is quoted in money that will not buy what it buys now.

- Every extra pound skips all the interest that pound would have owed for the rest of the term, which is why two hundred a month takes nearly five years off and saves sixty thousand. A balloon only pays off the part you use up. Interest-only covers the rent on the money and nothing else, so the debt at the end is the debt at the start, and saying that out loud is most of the answer.

The detail line has carried the total and the interest for as long as the rule has existed, with no way to ask for either on its own. - Six ways of charging for money without quoting a rate, each turned back into one. A one per cent fee over thirty years takes a quarter of the pot, because it is charged every year on a sum that has been growing. Twenty-five pounds for a month is three hundred per cent a year. Passing up a two per cent discount to pay twenty days later is borrowing at thirty-seven. Not "bps" on its own: this page has converted bits per second since the units went in, and that word was there first.

- The only rule here that works out what the letters APR stand for. Everything on this page that has ever been called an APR was a nominal rate, which is the number on the advert. The real one balances what you pay against what you received, and you did not receive the fee: charged on ten thousand with nine and a half arriving turns five per cent into eight and a half.

- The one steady rate that would have got there, which is not the total growth divided by the years. Its twin reads the same sum for the time instead, and that turns out to be one rule wearing four hats: doubling, tripling, quadrupling and halving are all the same logarithm, and losing three per cent a year is the same sum with the sign turned round.
